Hunterian Art Gallery, University of Glasgow - Sketcher's Notebook

Armchair related to Hill House

This late notebook begins around 1912 and continues to around 1920. It contains records of site visits related to refurbishments of existing projects including The Hill House, Helensburgh; Mossyde, Kilmacolm; and Miss Cranston's tea rooms. There are also notes for potential new work, for example at Robinsfield, near Glasgow, and notes related to projects from the later years in London, including E. O. Hoppé's house at East Grinstead and Florence Brooks' cottages at Burgess Hill. Other London-based projects include minor refurbishments in Chelsea as well as Mackintosh's more ambitious but largely unrealised studio proposals.
