*Phryganea [pilosa]* Linn. *Limnephilus* sp., possibly *vittatus* , det. I.D. Wallace, 2008. F
dry pinned: caddis
Part of William Hunter's (1718-1783) insect collection dating from eighteenth century. The specimens were curated by Johann Christian Fabricius, whose work 'Species Insectorum' (1781) was used to lay out the collection by the Trustees and Hunter's nephew Matthew Baillie between 1783-5. Some specimens in some drawers were known to have been added later, up to end of the C18th century. Some originate from other collections such as those of Drury, Banks, Yeats and Fothergill.
Although there is a listing for *pilosa* in the Trustees' Catalogue (1785) for this species in this position the cabinet label is now missing. This specimen is not *pilosa* but the one next to it is.
