Dimensions:
19x15x7.5cm
Locality:
*non loc.*
Context:
unknown
Notes:
Very fine. From William Hunter's original bequest. No locality given, but probably from Schlottwitz, near Wesenstein in Saxony. This specimen has two unusual adhering numbers: a pre-printed "rococo"-style pre-Hunter label, with an illegible hand-written number, and a larger, hand-written number which relates to the Trustees catalogue of the Hunter collection. Item 71 under quartz: "jaspefied agate broke to pieces and cemented again by Crystalline Earth." This is one of very few minerals specimens which have numbers relating to the Trustees catalogue.
