Dimensions:
5x4x3cm
Locality:
[Freiberg, Saxony], [Germany]
Context:
unknown
References:
CIT [Trustees Catalogue (FORDYCE)] 1797 [20 (silver)]
Notes:
Very fine specimen. Almost certainly from William Hunter's original bequest, although the museum catalogue only gives "Hunterian", and "South America" as the locality. However, the specimen matches very closely that described in the Trustees catalogue of 1794-7: "[Silver] No. 20 silver in large curved fibres covered with black or Glass Silver Ore, and Calcareous Spar - from Freyberg in Saxony". This seems a very likely locality.
