schorl; euhedral crystals, artificially embedded in fake mica-rich "rock", on feldspar crystals
A very unusual example of an 18th century mineral fake. From William Hunter's original collection: the adhering label (see doc. file) with the Jacob Forster number 14, and price code "I i" (ie 3 guineas). This matches the specimen in the bill dated 5th October 1781: "14. Prismatick Tourmaline Cristals, with Feld Spar and Mica, very rare, from Spain £3 3s 0d".
