Notes:
From William Hunter's original bequest. Very nice specimen, almost certainly from Schlaggenwald or elsewhere in the Erzgebirge/Bohemia. Notes in the museum catalogue indicate that this had Jameson catalogue number 543, although any such label is no longer on the specimen. The specimen sounds very like one listed in a bill from the chemist Peter Woulfe to Hunter, dated December 13th 1777: "Tin Ore with Cristal, fluor and an unknown mineral substance of a Crimson Colr.... 5:5s:0d" - this seems a likely source.
