(cat.203) BILLCLIFFE, Roger 1979 'Mackintosh Watercolours', London: John Murray
In 1923, Mackintosh moved to the South of France, settling on the Mediterranean coast near the Franco- Spanish border. His intention was to develop his career as a painter. Acacia dealbata is the florist's Mimosa and is a common adornment of Mediterranean gardens. Its native territory is south-east Australia and Tasmania. This is one of the earliest watercolours from the years in France.
