This and GLAHA 41016 are both species of Hebe (formerly Veronica), shrubby plants mostly from New Zealand. Many species and cultivars are grown in British gardens. This flowering plant may well be Hebe speciosa, commonly grown in seaside resorts. Both drawings show signs of sponging, a technique Mackintosh occasionally used of applying an absorbent material to lift the watercolour, thus achieving highlights.
