Notes:
In the mid 1890s, the Macdonald sisters, McNair and Mackintosh - collectively the Group of Four - produced a small group of posters that encapsulated their preoccupations with stylized forms and lettering. These were worked into bold compositions, often with a symbolic meaning. The posters successfully promoted their subjects and also publicly signaled the arrival of a distinctive new design group. The Mackintosh Estate, presented by Sylvan McNair, 1947
