Notes:
In 1902 Mackintosh and his wife Margaret took part in the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative Art at Turin. This chair was one of a group displayed shown in a room setting which they called 'The Rose Boudoir'. The theme of the rose inspired the overall colour scheme of white, silver and pink, and underlay the decorative detailing of many of the pieces including the stencilled back and the carving at the top of this piece. The image shows the item on public display in The Mackintosh House at The Hunterian Art Gallery.
