Notes:
This is Mackintosh's version of a table he designed for the drawing room of 14 Kingsborough Gardens, Glasgow, for Mrs Rowat. In the early 1900s, Mackintosh designed a number of variations of oval-top tables, with plain surfaces, inlays, and multiple legs. The legs here are of particular interest: plank-shaped, set at an angle to align with the curve of the top, and pierced and set with a sculptural stylised leaf. The image shows the item on public display in The Mackintosh House at the Hunterian Art Gallery.
