In the mid 1890s Margaret Macdonald and her sister Frances designed and made an illuminated manuscript depicting 'The Christmas Story'. The watercolour illustrations were bound into a brass cover designed and beaten by Frances Macdonald. This is the front cover, and bears the legend 'Gloria In Excelsis Deo'.
