In the mid 1890s Margaret Macdonald and her sister Frances designed and made an illuminated manuscript depicting 'The Christmas Story'. The watercolour illustrations were bound into a brass cover designed and beaten by Frances Macdonald. This is the front cover, and bears the legend 'Gloria In Excelsis Deo'. The image shows the item on public display in The Mackintosh House at the Hunterian Art Gallery. For the back see GLAHA 52981.
