Notes:
From 1899 Dunglass Castle was the home of Margaret Macdonald's brother, Charles. Mackintosh carried out designs for the drawing room and designed furniture for the principal bedroom around 1900. The Esso petroleum company acquired the house in the 1960s from Macdonald family descendants. The house now stands empty, and the furniture has been dispersed. Items from the drawing room are held by the National Museums of Scotland.
