Notes:
This is one of a group of late watercolours by Frances McNair, which were probably conceived as a group. They probably date after 1911 when she and her husband returned to Glasgow from Liverpool. The watercolours appear to present meditations on the choices and options facing women, perhaps in part a reflections of her own personal circumstances.
