The high-backed chairs were carefully grouped in the centre of Mackintosh's beautiful silver and purple Room de Luxe, which sat like a jewel casket at the heart of the Willow. Francis Smith, Glasgow, quoted for eight at 2.16.od. each (20 August, 1903); payment was included in the gross sum of 323.18.2d. (28 January, 1904). A smaller version was used round the perimeter of the room - see GLAHA 52815, and the design 41072.. Purchased with the support of the National Fund for Acquisitions, 1973
