The theme of the rose inspired the decoration of this exhibition room setting, presented in Turin in 1902. The rose itself appears to have been a symbol of love and art for the Mackintoshes. A number of items from the room were subsequently used in the Mackintoshes' own home and are now displayed in The Mackintosh House, Hunterian Art Gallery.
