Notes:
This book on contemporary ladies' fashion was written by the wife of the influential German architect and writer, Hermann Muthesius (1861-1927). The decorative linear design incorporating stylised rounded female figures and roses was characteristic of Frances Macdonald McNair's work in the early 1900s, particularly her embroideries. The lettering is the most refined example by her to survive.
