Sketchbook of a tour in Gloucestershire, Worcestershire etc., p. 19: Chest tomb, St Michael and All Angels, Stanton, Gloucestershire and study of an oeil-de-boeuf leaded window 1894
CRE MACKINTOSH, Charles Rennie; (Scottish; 1868-1928)
pencil on cartridge drawing paper
11.5 x 17.8
inscr. b.r.: "BUCKLAND. [sic]"
The chest tomb, with its strapwork ornamentation, lies in the churchyard, almost directly in front of the south porch of the church. Two moulding studies, including that of the arch and its keystone, appear on the right. Mackintosh has mistakenly captioned his drawing as "Buckland". The oeil-de-boeuf window is unidentified, but these are common in the north Cotswolds, particularly in Broadway.
