Mackintosh has made an intensive study of the west elevation of the late 15th-century Perpendicular Gothic tower. The details on the right from the top are: a weather vane and corner finial; the string course moulding on the tower's central stage; the concave jamb and mullion mouldings of the west window; the buttress mouldings at west window level and at base level; and the jamb moulding of the west door.
