Notes:
Little remains of Campden House, a major Jacobean 'prodigy' house. Completed by Sir Baptist Hicks (1551-1629) in c. 1620, it was destroyed by fire in 1645. The finial (top left) is from a gable on one of the two surviving pavilions or banqueting houses at either end of its terrace walk. The chimney (centre) is from Court House, originally the stables of Campden House, on Calf's Lane. The capital of an Ionic pilaster and date inscription (bottom left) are from Clifton House on Chipping Campden's High Street. Mackintosh made a further study of Clifton House - see 53011/56
