CRE MACKINTOSH, Charles Rennie; (Scottish; 1868-1928)

This study of a dahlia is one of ten flower drawings in the sketchbook. Mackintosh's interest in this genre stems partly from the design courses he took at the Glasgow School of Art where, along with other contemporary art schools, the study and analysis of plant form was an essential element in the training of designers. The pages have been numbered inaccurately in an unknown hand as pages 16 - 17.
