Mackintosh designed decorative schemes, furniture and furnishings for 'Hous'hill', the home of his great patron and tea room entrepreneur, Catherine Cranston, in 1904. In 1909 he returned to create a new Card Room. See 4112, 41770 and a later page in this sketchbook 53014/48. See also Roger Billcliffe, 'Charles Rennie Mackintosh: The Complete Furniture, Furniture Drawings and Interior Designs', Cameron & Hollis, Moffat: 2009, pp. 244 - 8. The design is superimposed on an earlier drawing of a slate- roofed building. The page has been inaccurately numbered "37" in an unknown hand.
