Notes:
This is the first of two drawings which together cover the full length of the High Street at Chiddingstone [see also 53014/26]. Mackintosh has drawn a plan of the street frontage (top centre) with elevations of the four houses (centre). Of these, number 1, the house at left, dates from the 15th-century, the next, number 2, is contemporary with it but has an 18th-century brick frontage. Its neighbour, numbers 3-4, is Bergherst Court, a 15th-century timber-framed manor house [see also 53014/33]. Mackintosh has drawn its side elevation (top) and the side elevation of number 1 (bottom left). At bottom centre is a study of a gable pendant from number 4. The page has been inaccurately numbered "47" in an unknown hand.
