Sketchbook of tours in Kent, Sussex, Norfolk, Suffolk and Perthshire: p. 15 Westwick Hall, Norfolk
CRE MACKINTOSH, Charles Rennie; (Scottish; 1868-1928)
pencil on paper
17.7 x 22.8
inscr. b.l.: "WESTWICK HALL."
Westwick Hall is a late 16th-century L-shaped brick house. In this drawing of its south elevation Mackintosh has clearly shown its stepped gables which are a common feature of Scottish vernacular architecture. The gable to the left has pedimented windows and polygonal angle shafts. The page has been inaccurately numbered "17" in an unknown hand. The drawing probably dates to Mackintosh's trips to Norfolk in 1896 and 1897 .
