The bookplate shows the stylisation of form and use of symmetry which were characteristic of the "Spook School" designs by the Macdonald sisters and J. Herbert McNair in the 1890s. John Edwards has not been identified. See also GLAHA 41547, GLAHA 53023, GLAHA 53024.
